Our commitment
We believe everyone should be able to learn about PACRIM and the work we do. We aim to build a website that is perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all visitors — including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice-control tools, screen magnifiers, and other assistive technologies.
Standards we follow
This site is designed to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. WCAG defines a widely adopted set of requirements for making web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities.
We review the site against these guidelines as part of our design and development process and work to resolve issues as they are identified.
Measures we take
To support accessibility, we build and maintain our site with the following practices:
- Semantic structure. Pages use proper headings, landmarks, and HTML semantics so that assistive technologies can navigate content reliably.
- Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements — links, buttons, form fields, tabs, and navigation — can be reached and operated with a keyboard.
- Visible focus states. Interactive elements display a clearly visible focus indicator when tabbed to.
- Color contrast. Text and interactive elements are designed to meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios against their backgrounds.
- Descriptive text alternatives. Images that convey meaning include descriptive alt text; decorative imagery is marked so that assistive technologies can skip over it.
- Responsive, resizable layouts. The site adapts across screen sizes and supports browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
- Reduced-motion support. We respect the
prefers-reduced-motionsystem setting and disable scroll-based animations for visitors who have requested reduced motion. - Consistent navigation. Navigation, layout, and interaction patterns remain consistent across pages.
Accessibility features on this site
Navigation
The main navigation is reachable from any page. Keyboard users can tab through links in reading order, and the primary action (Get in Touch) is available directly from the header.
Project detail pages
Project pages use tabbed panels for Challenges, Results, and Gallery content. Tabs follow the ARIA tab pattern and can be activated with a keyboard.
Forms
The contact form on /get-in-touch uses labeled inputs, clear field requirements, and visible error messages. Form submission feedback is announced to assistive technologies.
Images and media
Project photography and hero imagery include descriptive alt text where the image conveys information. Background textures and purely decorative images are marked accordingly.
Known limitations
We are continuing to improve the accessibility of this site. Visitors may encounter the following known issues, which we are working to address:
- Some third-party embedded content (such as analytics widgets) may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Older photography in our project library may lack the same depth of descriptive alt text as newer content. We are updating these as we refresh each project page.
If you encounter an accessibility issue not listed above, please let us know — your feedback helps us improve.
