World-Class Guyanese Offshore Supply Base
As ExxonMobil began its exploration campaign in 2015, its needs grew to include support from onshore Guyana to supply the offshore rigs and vessels. ExxonMobil selected Pacific Rim Constructors and its consortium partners to design, engineer, construct, and operate an offshore supply base to support this activity.
This large-scale development established a critical logistics hub for the region. The project included the design and delivery of berths, warehousing, and essential infrastructure, and services like food and water supply and waste management — setting the foundation for Guyana's emerging offshore oil and gas sector.
Local Assets & Workforce
As part of its commitment to local content, Pacific Rim Constructors and its consortium partners mobilized the project with a critical local training program designed to maximize the use of resources from inside Guyana. By integrating local resources with international expertise, PRC ensured the project could be executed reliably while building long-term capacity within Guyana.
Georgetown's terrain, sitting below sea level, presented significant land development challenges. The region also lacked the established infrastructure and skilled construction workforce typically required for projects of this scale and pace. In addition, work progressed during the COVID-19 pandemic, requiring new health, safety, and operational protocols. PRC leveraged insights from berth development on the Essequibo River and applied innovative approaches to overcome site-specific and environmental constraints.
